A collaboration between food tour companies
The idea for Food ‘n Route started in Rotterdam in 2020, after the COVID outbreak.
The tour company Inside Rotterdam had to close its doors for a few months. When it became clear that their normal food tours would be impossible to organise, owner Ariane came up with an alternative. A food tour that you can do on your own and with your own company was born named Food ‘n Route. A route off the beaten track and away from the crowds. Visiting small authentic entrepreneurs for delicious tastings. All in all, a true immersion in local life.
The concept soon became popular and in the summer of 2020 hundreds of locals went on Food ‘n Route and rediscovered their own city.
When the second lockdown end of September 2020 was announced, Ariane decided to contact fellow food tour entrepreneurs in other cities. Could this also be something for them? Could this Covid crisis bring them together and bring something positive?
Esther-Hanna and Zosia from Hungry Birds Amsterdam and Guus from Street Food tour Utrecht responded enthusiastically.
We decided to join forces. A food collaboration was born. Via regular Zoom meetings we developed Food ‘n Route further. With more than 15 years of experience in organizing food tours, we set up new routes and exchanged best practices.
With great enthusiasm we present you our Food ‘n Routes.

Since 2014 I have been organizing food tours in Rotterdam. For foreign tourists, but also for Dutch people and local Rotterdammers. I like to surprise people. To surprise them with extraordinary snacks, unexpected places and encounters that warm your heart.
In our Insider tours you go off the beaten track and dive into the neighborhood. The majority of visitors and residents recreate in the city center.
